There are a number of elements candidates are assessed on during the Tracked Loading Shovel assessment including;

  1. Complete all manufacturers' pre-start and running checks and prepare the loading shovel for travel
  2. In a loaded and unloaded state;
  3.  - Travel up and down the slope
  4.  - Stop and start on the slope in the up directions
  5.  - Travel over rough terrain
  6.  - Reverse (loaded only) in a straight line for a minimum of 30m and pass through a restriction at the end of the run
  7. Prepare and set the loading shovel for relevant work
  8. Extract material from below ground level to specified dimensions and form a stockpile
  9. Load material into a vehicle
  10. Reinstate the work area back to original state
  11. Park the loading shovel and carry out shut-down and securing procedures
