Course Content for Pallet Truck

Course duration – 1 day

Course aims: to supply enough knowledge to enable trainees to operate an electric pallet truck properly and safely.

Course objective: at the end of the course the trainees will be able to:-

Answer 20 questions concerning the safe operation of the pallet truck.
Carry out the pre shift checks
Demonstrate that he/she can operate the machine correctly.
Put the machine on the charge.
Take the machine off the charge.
Tell the instructor what the company requirements are in reporting a faulty machine.
Pass a practical test as laid down by the joint industrial council

Explanation of controls

Simple starting and stopping

Emergency stopping

Turning right/left around a pallet

Forward then reversing

Figure eight forward/reverse

Chicane forward/reverse

Hydraulics

Picking up empty pallet

Pickink up loaded pallet

Picking up stillages

Turning right/left in wide aisle

Turning right/left in narrow aisle

Picking of pallet from narrow aisle 90° turn

Stacking pallet in narrown aisle 90° turn

As above but with right turn

Protective driving around factory floor negotiating doorways blind corners etc

Putting machine on/off charger.

Parking machine safely
