Course Content
 
Aim                    
 
Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in
operating the Industrial Reach Lift Trucks.
 
 
Objectives of the Course are to enable delegates to: 
 
  • Be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturer’s     instructions  and  accepted good practice.
  • Carry out pre-shift inspection.
  • Be able to load and unload vehicles and static racking.
  • Understand the causes of instability of the truck and load.
  • Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Order 1978 and other current    relevant legislation.

All personnel required to operate an  Industrial Reach Lift Truck.

Course Summary        

Candidates will participate in theory lessons and practical demonstrations / exercise, all of which are by the use of Powerpoint & Videos covering:          -    

  • An introduction to the Construction Industry (C.I.T.B only)
  •  Provision and use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.
  •  Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998.
  • Health and Safety at Work Order 1978.
  •  Other current relevant regulations.
  •  Introduction to the machine.
  • Pre – shift inspections.
  • Controls and instruments.
  • Components and main types of lift trucks.
  •  Re – fuelling systems.
  • Coolant, Fuel and Lubrication.
  • Emergency controls.
  • Driving on / off ramps.
  • Operator’s safety code.
  •  Handling loaded / unloaded pallets and difficult shaped loads.

 

 Course Duration                                 
 
1, 3 or 5 days dependant on the experience of the candidate, the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per instructor.
