CAT and Genny training

The Cat (cable avoidance tool) and Genny is a one day course and gives operatives the confidence and knowledge to effectively use the cat and genny to find underground services. This ensures that any digging work commencing on site can be carried out safe in the knowledge that the underground services such as electric cables have been identified and their route marked out.

BSD Training has a purpose built cat and genny training ground to ensure delegates have the opportunity to use the cat and genny to find a number of different services in a variety of ground types. This gives delegates training in a real life work situation and furthers their confidence to use skills on site.

The course content for the cat and genny course covers a number of different topics and techniques which are both theoretical and practical to ensure a variety with the delivery of the course;

Pre shift checks
Testing to see if machines work
 
Sweeping areas
Signal maximums
Signal induction
Direct connections
Searching and pinpointing services
Identify all types of services
Identifying damage to services
 
Using the cat, genny, sonde, signal clamps and equipment tracers
Practical assessment
Theory test
 

Delegates will recieve a certificate on completion of the course
