Unit 9 - Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways

The unit 9 module deals with reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways on the public highway and covers the legal and practical aspects of undertaking this work. The unit is available for operatives only.

Select and use the appropriate personal protective equipment correctly.
Prepare the cavity to recieve the reinstatement
Make good the sub-base layer to recieve the reinstatement
Remove, clean, store for reuse or dispose of slabs, blocks and concrete
Lay and compact bedding materials to correct levels for slabs and modular reinstatement.
Position and compact block paving correctly to match bond pattern the existing surfaceusing the specified technique and equipment
Position concrete slabs to match the correct bond pattern
Place and conpact concrete to correct levels and ensure textured finish is achieved
Apply jointing materials
Place and compact concrete to the required level
Dispose of unsuitable surplus material safely
Keep the site clean and tidy
Follow safe working practices, including the selection and use of personal protective equipment and use of plant equipment
Provide sufficient knowledge evidence by way of oral or written questions

On completion of this unit delegates recieve a CAWBI certificate and this unit can then be put towards a full streetworks qualification when combined with other units.
